Alberta Women's Science Network (AWSN) Scholarship
The AWSN Scholarship Program is part of larger equity efforts within the AWSN network. Through the guidance of a gender-based analysis plus (GBA+), the program uses an intersectional lens and is structured in a way that allows AWSN to distribute the awards in an equitable manner, limiting unconscious bias, stereotypes, and other barriers commonly faced by underrepresented groups.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- STEM students who are continuing full-time undergraduate studies, entering their third to final year of a STEM undergraduate program in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics in Alberta
- STEM re-engaging professionals returning to an Alberta STEM program to re-educate and/or update STEM credentials after an extended career gap (2+ years)
Applicants must be attending an Alberta-based institution and reside in Alberta for the duration of the upcoming academic year (not including co-op programming). AWSN scholarship recipients are not eligible for the Women in STEM Scholarship from the Government of Alberta within the same academic year, as AWSN and Alberta Culture and Status of Women are working together to distribute STEM scholarships in an equitable manner.
