Ware & Lewis Memorial Fund

John Ware, the cowboy and rancher written about in Grant MacEwan’s book, John Ware’s Cow Country, was married to Mildred Lewis, a sister of Spencer Lewis.
They had three sons and two daughters, none of whom were married.
Spencer and his two nieces moved to the Vulcan district in 1923. They farmed there until their retirement in 1960.
They were among the most highly respected residents of this area.
The last surviving member of the family was Janet “Nettie” Ware. She left the residue of their estates to the Vulcan Lions Club for any projects for the betterment and enjoyment of the citizens of the community and surrounding area.
