Lorna Gibbard Liba Memorial Fund
Lorna grew up in the orchards of the Okanagan Valley, the second of three girls.
Graduating from high school at four feet, eleven inches and 90 pounds, she had become adept at creating her own fashion wardrobe.
Her professed dream was to open a boutique for people less than five feet tall and she came to Olds College to acquire the necessary skills.
The business and management aspects of her course intrigued her and in 1982 she graduated with honors in Fashion Merchandising.
She immediately moved to Edmonton to start work with Dalmy’s and was quickly promoted to manager.
In 1985 she joined Braemar where she became known for her skills as a troubleshooter and problem solver combined with a quirky sense of humour.
At the time of her sudden death in 1992, she had been promoted to Area Supervisor, responsible for the Saskatoon store and all the Calgary stores.
In her personal life she was caring and compassionate, championing the cause of those less fortunate.
Her creativity showed itself in her sewing, decorating, and especially in her Christmas crafts.
