Gerald Archer (Margaret Archer Memorial)

Gerald Archer (Margaret Archer Memorial)

Margaret Archer (Atkinson) graduated from Olds College in 1950.
She worked alongside her husband Gerald running a mixed dairy and grain farming operation, besides raising six children and earning extra money selling eggs and her well-known “milk-fed” chickens and turkeys.
The family set up this bursary for the Animal Health Technology students because one of Margaret’s early dreams was to become a veterinarian.
Although she never pursued this dream, her self-gained knowledge and care in treating sick animals came close.
Margaret was an avid ambassador of Olds College and was extremely dedicated to the Olds College Alumni Association, holding a wide variety of positions in the Association and dedicating many volunteer hours for reunions and tracing of alumni addresses.

Impact

Her family felt this bursary would assist others to carry on her interests and beliefs, which included quality education and the love and care of animals.
