Art and Shirley Froehlich (Dan Fullerton Memorial)

Dan Fullerton joined the Olds College family in 2002, and was an example of dedication for everyone who he worked with.
As Director of Business and International Development, Dan had dream to connect coffee growers in the Dominican Republic with coffee lovers in Canada, and in the process, help educate kids in the Dominican.
Dan created a unique business model whereby 90% of the profits from coffee sales go to a Dominican Republic Education Fund, encouraging children in the mountains of Jarabacoa to remain in school while supporting technical farmer training to enhance both coffee quality, and farm revenue. Coffee was imported and sold throughout the province from November 2012, through the end of 2014.
In support of Dan’s dream, the “Olds College: Educate the Children Fund” was established, and raised over $10,000. Last summer, the Funds were used to purchase computers for Compadre Pascual school, and train students on how to use them. In November, college staff accompanies the students to Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic, and visit a post secondary school there. Most of the students had never left their hometown before.
Thank you to all of those who helped raise funds for the Educate the Children Fund, in support of Dan’s Dream.
